Method of Action: A Beginning Designer's Dream Resource

Method of Action is a website with an abundance of self-produced games for introductory designers and seasoned developers alike. The brainchild of developer Adam MacKay, he is creating and rolling out content for Method of Action to this day. All programs are completely free to use, but if you wanted to donate to Adam for a job well done, here is the link to donate: https://method.ac/donate/.

These are some of my favorite games and programs available:

  • Kerntype: A game to practice kerning, or letter spacing

  • Color: A game to practice finding hues of colors and color pallets in a timely fashion

  • The Boolean Game: A game to practice layering shape as well as the different pathfinder commands

  • Method Draw: A rather elementary vector software that resides solely in your browser and requires no registration or software downloads. It is essentially a simplified version of Adobe Illustrator. While it doesn’t have all of the fancy features, it does a great job of introducing you to vector drawing and frequently-used key commands

I encourage anyone and every to check out Method of Action. There are many more things to explore, and as I said before, it’s great practice for everyone.
